Greetings First Grade Families,
I am so happy to be back and it is because of all of you! Tuesday is picture retake day! If you would like a retake, please bring in your picture packet. First Grade will be taking their picture retakes in the morning because we will be heading to the Sheboygan Retirement Home tomorrow at 10:15 to meet and make Fall themed crafts with the residents. Also, there is no church on Wednesday. We will be celebrating Mass as a whole school on Friday for All Saint's Day! Remember, if your student would like to, they may choose a Saint to dress like and can process in with Father Matthew. We are all called to be Saints!
This week in Word Work and Reading we will be working on the short /e/ vowel sound. Our reading story this week is a cute story called, Dan's Pet. It is a funny story about a boy and his pet hen. Ask your student about the surprise ending.
This week in Math we are finishing up Topic 2 by showing how addition and subtraction are related and solving our own subtraction number stories.
This week in Religion we are reviewing the Chapters from Unit 1 and will be starting Chapter 5 on Wednesday. We will be learning about how God shows His love through all of the things that He created. If you have time, take a nature walk and talk about the things that you find that God created and how it shows God's love for us.
In Social Studies we are learning about Maps, Gardens and Fall Harvests. This week in Science we are learning about clouds and the water cycle to begin our experiments with rain and rain gauges.
